Sudbury Right to Life

is a trans-denominational non-profit organization, which was formed in the Fall of 1971, by a number of concerned citizens, to promote respect for all forms of human life from the moment of conception onward. Its members are united by the following principles:

  1. The right to life is the basic human right, on which all other rights depend.

  2. All human beings share this right equally, both before and after birth.
  3. Society has a duty to protect this right through legislation.
  4. We respect life from conception to natural death.

Our particular concern is the unborn child, whose right to life is presently denied!

We believe that human problems - like poverty, unwanted pregnancy, overpopulation, etc., should be solved in positive, constructive ways, without intentionally and violently killing our most innocent citizens ... by abortion!

We would be pleased to provide speakers, audio visual aids, and other educational resource material to help further your understanding of crucial life issues.

Here are some comments from students on the trip:

From Danica:  The National March for Life was intense!  There were so many people there.  The signs were awesome…all so “catchy”.   It was really empowering and very positive.  The speeches got the word across about why we were there and what it was about.  I just had a lot of fun!  All the songs and cheers we sang were amusing.  I hope March for Life 2011 will be even better.

From Cassey Mohns:  May 13th, 2010 is a day that I think I will remember forever.  To start, I had to get up really early in the morning to be in Val Caron for 5:15 a.m., which I personally thought would be terribly hard to do; but, with my excitement for the trip, it was actually very easy.  The bus ride to Ottawa was fun, with the enthusiasm from my fellow students and our senior citizen riders.  Once we got to the Parliament buildings, I was overwhelmed by the amount of people that attended.  I thought it was interesting to see all the different people supporting Pro Life.  During the March for Life you could not see the front of the march nor the back.  The volume of the crowd was remarkable as they sang different songs and chanted slogans.  The speeches and songs at the gathering were emotional and inspiring.  The best speeches in my opinion were the testimonies from women who regret getting their abortions.  The songs I liked best were about loving and cherishing life.  I am looking forward to attending the National March for Life 2011, and I am hoping for an even  bigger and louder crowd!

From Sophie Paradis:  March for Life 2010.  Our trip to Ottawa may have been long, but it was absolutely worth it.  It was amazing to see the amount of people who shared the same point of view and values,  that I myself have.  Seeing everyone gather at one place for a great cause, gave me hope.  It also gave me strength and motivation to stand up for what I believe.  There is no hiding the affect abortion has had on our country.  As our banner said, we are not talking about "tissue" but a human life, a  life in which the heart begins occasional pulsation after only 18 days.  One cannot say that this is just tissue.  Every baby should have a chance at life, just as you and I have had.  It is time to see a change in our country and to put an end to abortion.

From Julia Rose Wabie:  March 4 Life.  I thought that the National March for Life was very educational and inspiring.  To see over 15,000 people who have the same thought or emotion as you do was very heart warming.  It made me feel good knowing that I gave a voice to a lot of unborn children just by walking.  It makes me wonder what more I can do.  I loved the March for Life because I voiced my opinion and saved a life.  I hope to attend next year as well, and the year after that, and so forth.

40 Days For Life

Forty days for life will be held in Sudbury for the first time ever from September 22nd through October 31st. Forty Days For Life is a silent, peaceful, prayerful witness for the end to abortion. It tracks Biblical History, where God used forty day periods to transform individuals, communities, and the entire world. It is just the sort of prayer for life envisaged by John Paul II in his encyclical "Gospel of Life"

"...a great prayer for life is urgently needed, a prayer which will rise up throughout the world.  Through special initiatives and in daily prayer, may an impassioned plea rise to God the Creator and Lover of Life, from every Christian community, from every group and association, from every family and from the heart of every believer.  Jesus himself has shown us by his own example that prayer and fasting are the first and most effective weapons against the forces of evil (cf. Mt 4:1-11).  As he taught his disciples, some demons cannot be driven out except in this way (cf. Mk 9:29).  Let us therefore discover anew the humility and the courage to pray and fast so that power from on high will break down the walls of lies and deceit:  the walls which conceal from the sight of so many of our brothers and sisters the evil of practices and laws which are hostile to life.  May this same power turn their hearts to resolutions and goals inspired by the civilization of life and love."

"YOUNG PILGRIMS, CHRIST NEEDS YOU TO ENLIGHTEN THE WORLD AND TO SHOW IT THE "PATH TO LIFE"."  John Paul II

Look to this site for an opportunity soon to register and take part in this powerful witness to our belief in the sacredness of life and the need to end abortion NOW!!!!

Life Chain - October 3, 2010

What Is LIFE CHAIN?

Annually, on the first Sunday in October, LIFE CHAIN invites the churches in each city and town across North America to stand on a designated local sidewalk and pray for one hour, while holding one of the following approved pro-life sign messages:

  • ABORTION KILLS CHILDREN
  • JESUS FORGIVES AND HEALS
  • ADOPTION: THE LOVING OPTION
  • LORD, FORGIVE US AND OUR NATION
  • ABORTION HURTS WOMEN
  • PRAY TO END ABORTION
  • LIFE THE FIRST INALIENABLE RIGHT

In 2009, over 1450 cities and towns held Life Chains (in over 1700 locations), and each Chain is posted at LifeChain.net. We are now focusing on National Life Chain Sunday 2010 to be held October 3, Lord willing, from 2:00 to 3:30 pm (or the time preferred by the local Life Chain Committee) in each time zone across North America. Inform your local pastors of your Life Chain plans as soon as possible, and ask them to schedule your Chain on their church calendar.
